Irvine 7-----Paisley 40 Arriva drive Paisley to victory…
Thanks to the generosity of Arriva who provided us with a bus, the under 14’s travelled to Irvine to play against a team who were playing their first ever game. Paisley looked impressive in their new training tops purchased with a donation from Arriva Scotland West and the new look went down well with compliments from parents and coaches from both teams. Irvine started well making some good tackles but eventually strength and experience shone through with tries from both forwards and backs sealing a good victory for Paisley. The try scorers were Thomas Millar (6), Lloyd Stevenson (2), Alistair McFall, Ross Arbuckle who scored his first try, and then a dubious one claimed by both Gavin Posselthwaite and Murray Sutherland. Martin Mckellar made 3 conversions and was replaced as kicker by Kyle McKinney who successfully kicked 3 out of 4 conversion attempts. The inexperienced Irvine team showed plenty of spirit and determination and despite being on the end of a heavy defeat kept going till the end and were finally rewarded with scoring 2 tries and one conversion which was well received by both sets of supporters. So, another victory for the ever improving Paisley under 14 team who’s next home game is against Clydebank on Sunday 5`th November at 1.30 pm. Thanks again goes to Arriva for providing transport and the generous donation, and a special mention goes to Thomas Millar who has been selected to train with the Glasgow Under 14 Squad. Any boys between the ages of 8 and 15 who are interested in learning to play rugby can come along and watch our game v Clydebank or contact Tom Millar on 07969289056. |
