U14's: Paisley 37 - Clydebank 7 PDF Print E-mail

Clydebank were the visitors this weekend, and with some newer and bigger players were looking to avenge an earlier season defeat by the ever-improving Paisley team. Paisley themselves were fielding some new and in-experienced players so some of the stronger players were going to have to give way to help blood the new boys so see what they could do.

Paisley started strongly with the forwards dominating, so much so that they went ahead early on with two tries from Scott Sutherland who plays in the Second row. Stand-off Martin Mckellar scored by using Thomas Millar as a decoy and breaking from the blind side of the scrum. Thomas then got into the game by scoring one of his now trademark tries with a run from inside his own half. Much to his disappointment he was replaced on the wing to give one of the newer players a run-out.

This seemed to backfire on Paisley as Clydebank scored straight from the re-start but they missed the conversion attempt.
The second period began with Paisley again on the ascendancy as the forwards overpowered the inexperienced Clydebank pack, with Alastair McFall scoring after some wonderful forward play. Jack Wilson got into the game with a typical scrum-half try running in from five yards to score his first of the year.

Paisley continued to dominate with further tries from Scott Sutherland and another two from Thomas Millar. Clydebank tried their best to get back into the game and scored a converted try, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a determined and powerful Paisley side that seemed to be scoring at will. Sam Berry finished off the scoring, diving over from close range and with Martin Mckellar making seven out of ten conversion attempts it rounded off a successful afternoon for the young buddies.
