Paisley Under 15's travel on a miserable day to face their bogey team. Read the Match report here.
A large contingent of Paisley Under14/15’s travelled to Clydebank on a miserably wet and windy day for a friendly against a team which have always beaten us. The first half started with the strongest team of Under 15 players Captained by Colin MacKay with Grant Bennett providing Vice-Captaincy on the day with clear instructions to motivate the team given the conditions. Clydebank took the field with 14 players and requested a Full Back from Paisley. The first 15 wanted a test from the match so Callum Reid was chosen to play the opening half with the opposition and he successfully cover tackled a clear try scoring opportunity from Duncan Carswell after he broke through the Clydebank defence. The first ten minutes was all played in Paisley territory and Clydebank only failed to score through exceptional defence and ball stealing from Paisley’s Mikey, Grant and Colin. GT’s decision making with the boot cleared our lines and then Paisley started to turn the screw by running in four tries to nil in the first half. The second half saw a completely new front 5, with Paul and Sam in at 4 & 5, changes to the backs put Jay in at 9, Callum back in the Paisley team and Mathew play at 15 for Clydebank. Although Paisley opened the scoring in the second half, Clydebank sensed their opportunity and piled on some good pressure in the Paisley 22. Poor decision making with ball in hand gifted the home team their first try of the match after the resulting scrum put Clydebank in for a try in the corner. A team talk later and Paisley were straight back with another two tries and the day was Ours. MOTM went to GT for getting the back line moving and Donkey of the Day was Colin for his Dad following the wrong car and heading away from Clydebank. Final Score Clydebank 7 – 43 Paisley |
