Paisley travelled to Cambuslang in search of their third league win from three matches today. Wet conditions dictated the stlye of play at Cambuslang. A forwards game, which suited Number 8 Mark Borland and Second Row Gregor Garbutt, both of whom carried the ball well in the loose, disrupted and stole ball at the opposition breakdown.
Paisley fell behing early in the game through a couple of missed tackles, but never lost the belief that they could pull it back. Another outstanding performace from Prop Allistair Griffith and Flanker Andrew McPherson ensure the backs got good ball at all times, allowing converted back row Euan Payton to score two tries off the wing. Nippy Stand Off Anton Johansen added two individual tries of his own to the score sheet, showing great vision, strength and speed before being taken off injured with some nasty stud marks all over his ankle. Centres Jordan Taggert and Graig Deany were solid in defence, both putting in crunching tackles all over the park. Special mentions should go to Hooker Cammy Perry who showed a whole new side to his game, taking the ball forward, drawing his man and putting players through gaps... excellent work! A big congratulations also is due to father Crawford McPherson, for his entertaining encounter with the Cambuslang club house front door..... No one is quite sure how PULL can be mistaken for AUTOMATIC!? How's the nose Crawford? Final Score - Paisley 24 Cambuslang 17 Tries - E Payton 2, A Johansen 2 Conversions - E Perry 2 |
